Garage Builders Maine is a Central Maine contractor run by Seth Leichnitz, building garages, ADUs, custom homes, decks, siding, and remodels across Kennebec and Lincoln County.
Seth did the physical work first, framing and finishing houses, then project managing and estimating, before starting the company after studying sustainable construction at KVCC.
Maine does not license general contractors, so we are upfront that vetting should mean checking insurance, references, and real past work, not a license number.
Every project starts with the owner walking your site in person and giving you a straight answer on cost and timeline, including the parts that run slow.
I started on job sites, not behind a desk. Framing, finish work, and timber framing came before I ever wrote an estimate.
I studied sustainable construction at KVCC, then spent years project managing and estimating before starting Garage Builders Maine.
That order matters. When I tell you how deep a footing goes or why a slab cracked, it comes from doing the work, not reading about it.
Maine doesn't license general contractors, so I tell homeowners to vet on what is real: insurance, references, and photos of past work. I hand over all three without blinking.

Seth started Garage Builders Maine after working his way up from laborer to project manager on custom homes, timber frames, and historic renovations across Central Maine. He walks and runs every job himself, and he studied sustainable construction at KVCC before going out on his own.
Marcus
Lead Carpenter
Marcus runs our framing and finish crews. Years on the tools across Central Maine, and the person who makes sure corners come out square and job sites stay clean.
Dan
Site & Foundations
Dan handles excavation, footings, and slab work. He makes sure every build starts on footings poured to Maine frost depth, so nothing shifts through the first hard winter.
